Why Whoopi Goldberg Should Walk Away From “The View”

It feels like we’ve been suspended in a stormy universe where literally nothing is supposed to make sense, and it will remain that way until whenever.
That’s the only way to explain why the big wigs over at ABC, under the direction of ABC News president, Kim Godwin, made the fateful decision to place legendary comedian and actress Whoopi Goldberg on a two-week suspension from The View, following her controversial remarks during an on-air discussion about the Holocaust.
Goldberg, a longtime moderator on the long-running Emmy-winning show was sharing her viewpoints on the Holocaust, and as anyone can imagine, having those types of discussions can be a daunting exercise.
Goldberg, who has been a notable ally of the Jewish community, set off a wave of disapproval and even disgust when her assertion that the evils of the Holocaust weren’t about race went viral and instantly began trending in the wrong direction.
“The Holocaust isn’t about race. No, it’s not about race.” “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man.”
The ill-fated episode was the beginning of a spiraling scandal that included an informative visit by Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League to the embattled set of The View, where he graciously tried to dial down the temperature by providing much-needed context and enlightenment.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper from the Simon Wiesenthal Center pointed out how the public has been trained to view people of color, Black people as primary targets of the criminality of white supremacy, which is the reason why there’s so much confusion and blatant misinformation out there.
“The only explanation that I have for it is that there is a new definition of racism that has been put out there in the public recently that defines racism exclusively as the targeting of people of color. And obviously history teaches us otherwise.”
