Why Netflix’s “Bruised” is the Comeback Story We All Deserve

As an avid binge-watcher, I often struggle to keep up with the overwhelming list of “must-see” offerings that are worthy of immediate attention, except for the challenge of being able to find the time to accommodate it all.
Sometimes you make allowances for the projects that deserve the support, especially when it’s a veteran Black actress and Oscar-winner making her directorial debut.

Halle Berry, 55, is back in the game in a big way with her inspirational “Shero” movie Bruised that she stars in and helms with the touching attention to details of the beating heart.

Berry’s final outing as Storm in the X-Men franchise is my last memory of her on the big screen. But before that superhero gig, I was a fan of her work in films like Boomerang, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, Monster’s Ball, and yes, even the wildly panned cult classic Catwoman, which earned the once-embattled actress the famed Razzie.

Berry displaying remarkable range and seductive vulnerability as a leading actress in a memorable role that won her the Oscar for Best Actress didn’t deafen the loud chatter that overpowered the Oscar-winner’s historic feat. Rumor has it that she got the trophy purely based on her performance in a stunningly graphic sex…
