Why High Blood Pressure Is The Silent Killer That Deserves Noise

Growing up in a Christian household in Lagos, Nigeria, we were used to hearing the saying that confirms how human beings make elaborate plans for the future, but God ultimately has the final say. The good Lord above is laughing at the audacity of the assumption that high expectations will be fulfilled accordingly.

Getting older doesn’t get any easier, but we don’t know that until we’re barreling towards AARP status with acute symptoms of relentless insomnia and the chaotic hormonal chart that makes you wish for those times when period cramps were your worst moments.

Like most active adults, I spent my twenties and thirties on a high-wire of euphoria as a city girl voraciously exploring all the places that provide enticing distractions in abundance. That also meant indulging in risky and questionable practices that supported a groovy lifestyle, destined to end for the sake of survival.

Entering my foreboding forties wasn’t as bleak as I anticipated until things took a shocking turn for the worse as all my sins from the past began to produce serious ramifications that turned out to be life-altering.
