Why Does Shit Suddenly Make Sense?
The scheduled and disgraceful exit of the Terrorizer-in-Chief is an abrupt switch to a non-combative climate that’s no longer held hostage by the erratic mood swings of an egomaniacal brute with deadly unpredictabilities.
One minute we were under siege by the unimaginable series of events that occurred at Capitol Hill, right after the “Save America” rally, incited by the Thug-in-Chief, who challenged his armed cultists to show “strength” and discard “weakness” in order to reverse his election loss — and weeks later we are under the bosom of the Comforter-in-Chief, who has hit the ground running.
Why does shit suddenly make sense?
Maybe it has a lot to do with the ceremonious return to law and order after the long season of normalized lawlessness garnered from the destructiveness of a menacing, incompetent oaf and seasoned gangster, whose rise to absolute power was enabled by the cowardly GOP, and devilishness of white evangelism.
The nation and the world took in the splendor of Inauguration Day with the pageantry of old traditions and modernized mechanisms, patriotically merged to produce an award-winning display of what “Celebrating America” really means in the scope of reclaiming what’s been tortured and torn, but still revivable.
Donald Trump and his wife Melania made their unremarkable exit with the help of equally deplorable family members and sprinkled revelers, cheering on an unsightly masquerade symbolizing the very worst of what history will accurately recall.
Perhaps shit finally makes sense because the trashy era of packaged “alternative facts,” blatant lies and conspiracy theories from the bowels of far-right groups are no longer part of the assembly line of White House communications.
On Day 1, we were treated to a swift makeover of the once-polluted podium that bore the seal of white supremacy, endorsing the nefarious motives of over-paid, under-qualified soldiers of disorder, hired to echo the fabricated jargon of their supreme leader, at the expense of tax-paying citizens, who deserved former adherence to vetted information, closely related to the facts.
Newly-minted White House press secretary Jen Psaki, a former CNN commentator, who is a veteran communicator in her own right, holding previous positions in the Obama administration and the U.S. State Department, made her fresh-faced appearance on Inauguration Day, and her 30-minute session went viral for obviously good reasons.
It was shocking to be feted with the extremes, as we witnessed a well-prepared, gracious and coherent White House press secretary who not only demonstrated the true meaning of transparency and preparatory prowess, but she showcased the level of patience and decorum towards the press corps, that bore a striking contrast to the previous atmosphere of verbal warfare.
Suddenly, the dysfunctional valves of our government that suffered tremendously from the poisoned missiles of criminality, fostered by a future felon, who turned his presidency into the extension of the Trump Crime Family establishment, are slowly but surely emerging from the rubble with the fortitude of a hopeful future under the embrace of “America’s New Dad.”
Okay, let’s not get carried away!
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the first woman ever to be second-in-command, and the first Black American of South Asian descent, are both well-equipped to assume their roles as employed lifesavers, who are tasked with the high-pressured assignment of delivering us from evil, while performing miraculous gestures of restoration, across the board.
But the hard truth can’t be hidden from sight, as we survey the dented damages of Trumpism, and take inventory of how his more than 70 million followers will not merely scurry back to the underground gutters of QAnon headquarters and the unhealthy addiction to Newsmaxx and OANN.
During his rambling session before his final boarding on Air Force One, Trump promised he would “be back in some form,” and judging by the way Republicans are still cowering to the commands of their crippled supreme leader, it’s safe to say that this threat is real and troublesome.
But despite the misplaced fury of white supremacists stationed in all walks of life, including media and epicenters of government, those of us who are targets of systemic injustice and the violence that continues to go unchecked by biased judicial branches are tragically accustomed to the burden of living on the edge.
We can remain vigilante and acutely aware of the bullshit derived from tone-deaf politicians on both sides, and the constant disappointment of watching the urgency of defeating white supremacy once for all, shoved to the bottom of the pile.
Yet, we need to agree that this dawn of a new day, that allows for basic communion of common decency and effective governing at the very top is a revised blueprint that’s worth acknowledging at a speed limit that matches the readjustment period.
Shit is starting to make sense and that’s crazy good!
It’s also the beginning of a long road to recovery that warrants baby steps and the cautionary tale that doesn’t have to subdue utter joy and relief.
We made it!
The United States of America is finally making some sense…for now.
