Why Britain’s Racism Against Meghan Markle is Triggering
The world is still recovering from the reverberating sit-down session that Prince Harry and Megan Markle granted the crowned “Interviewer-in-Chief,” Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night, where the most famous couple in the world candidly divulged their woes without the mandated filters that most predicted.
For me, it wasn’t a sure thing that I would submit to the most anticipated event of the year. Mainly because of my personal gripe against the United Kingdom’s most revered institution that infamously utilized the demonic play of white evangelism to violate the primal codes of Black and Brown territories that were conquered on behalf of Her Majesty.
My expanding adulthood has gifted me with the knowledge that reawakened my senses and draws attention to how my childhood and youth, spent in Lagos, Nigeria, was polluted with falsehoods about the supremacy of our former colonial masters, who graciously shared the word of God through the hard work of dedicated missionaries.
Generations of Nigerian families have at least one relative who received their university education abroad in England during the period of colonization and after independence was granted in 1960.
