Why Bad Days Are Supposed To Kick You Into Gear

We are rapidly approaching the one-year mark of when the deadly secret of COVID-19 was exposed, and before we could make sense of it, nationwide shutdowns were exacted and life as we knew it came to a screeching halt without warning, and with the threat of indefinite quarantining.

The remaining months of 2020 are a messy collage of modest highs and debilitating lows, with mind-numbing activities that make the days blend into indistinguishable occurrences. Naggingly aware of how wasting away was never on the itinerary, until a global pandemic became the battle for survival — in more ways than one.

And now that the new year is off and running, instead of excitedly counting down the days until we reclaim what’s salvageable from the wreckage of mental disarray and physical breakdowns from limited mobility in recognition of the guidelines that still mandate homebound schedules — we are being hit with the worst news that confirm dangers of a “new strain” seeping through the air.

Yes, the aggressive distribution of vaccines, regardless of the disorganized efforts to provide lifesaving services in a timely fashion for each state on standby is exactly the optimism we deserve after months and months of sheer torture, that saw the rise of a sobering death count, that includes casualties who couldn’t wait for the miracle…
