When two members of the controversial and much-hyped “squad,” Alexander Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley, announced their decision not to attend this year’s State of the Union address, it wasn’t much of a surprise to those of us who can relate to their justified sentiments.
As women of color in Trump’s America both Ocasio-Cortez and Pressley have spent most of their time and energy since their historic entry into Congress, battling the infectious ire of an incompetent oaf and white nationalist, who publicly shamed four Congresswomen of color for daring to hold him accountable for his offensive messaging and crimes against humanity.
Remember the short-lived national uproar that commenced when Trump declared that the “squad” should return to their filthy, crime-infested, shithole countries, as punishment for speaking out against a roguish administration.
The list of offenses are endless, but as a Black woman who is drained from the strain of navigating the rugged terrain of normalized lawlessness, that pledges allegiance to white supremacy, it’s not difficult to support the refusal to avoid the colossal disaster that’s staged by an impeached president, who is guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
Of course there were vocal critics who are active members of the cult of Donald Trump, like former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, who shamelessly sends the reminder about how she sold her soul for the benefit of defending the dumbest man alive, who still believes it was a “perfect call.”
From start to finish, Trump’s extended campaign rally was exactly what you would expect from a privileged white male, who has the full backing of other privileged white males in positions of absolute power.
It’s all about the viability of white power and maintaining that status quo, with unapologetic adherence, regardless of the high cost and the national emergency that threatens the epicenter of functionality.
The goal of the eerie night was to feed the masses of #MAGA healthy doses of verses that highlight the statutes of white evangelism, while promising to continue to wall off the influx of Brown bandits who try and fail to pollute our borders.
God bless white America!
The endearing mantra of white nationalism was the hovering symbol of Trump’s wordy jargon, as he paid homage to the picturesque view of a wealthy nation, that will no longer have to tolerate the forced infusion of “criminal aliens,” who arrive from “shithole” territories to destroy the pure landscape of whiteness.
There was also the pathetic attempt to scrounge for Black and Brown votes with the blatant lies of a booming economy of historic proportions, that allegedly gives once-discarded groups the golden opportunities that were invisible during past administrations.
“The unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Asian Americans have reached the lowest levels in history. African American youth unemployment has reached an all-time low.”
“African American poverty has declined to the lowest rate ever recorded.”
Of course the truth is definitely not black and white, when you consider the trail of injustice from the economic crisis of 2008, that mostly impacted vulnerable working Americans, who didn’t get to partake from the epic bailout that was supposedly meant to prevent further catastrophic penalties.
Fast forward to the present, and the big banks and their over-stuffed CEOs are gleefully flourishing amid the terror of a hostile job market, wage inequality, and the relentless stagnation that’s devouring the survivability of the middle class.
Trump and his cabinet of fools, including Ivanka Trump, who constantly litters her Twitter page with misleading information about the American worker’s miraculous recovery from brink of extinction, are loudly touting accomplishments that don’t define the real life struggle of wilting communities.
The theatrical touches were felt during the honorable mention of Charles McGee, one of the last surviving Tuskegee airmen. That was a touching moment, wrapped in the gleaming bow of Trump’s “promise” to be the tangible lifeline for ailing HBCUs in way that has never been done before.
There were plenty of low points, but the winner of the night has to be the shocking segment that saw conservative political commentator and talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, who recently divulged that he’s suffering from late-stage lung cancer, being awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Limbaugh has basically secured a decades-long trajectory as the favored pet of Republican presidents that go as far back as Ronald Reagan, by profitably selling the pamphlets of curated hate speeches.
“The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.”
“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”
“Obama is “more African in his roots than he is American” and is “behaving like an African colonial despot”
“Let the unskilled jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do — let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work.”
“You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.”
There’s plenty more from where that came from, and let’s not forget that time when Limbaugh callously mocked actor Michael J. Fox by accusing the 80s idol of exaggerating the symptoms of his Parkinson’s Disease to solicit empathy from viewers watching his 2006 commercial for stem cell research.
Limbaugh was forced to apologize but his unforgivable act of inhumanness, which happens to be the common trait of conservative media was the glaring stain on a legacy that’s apparently ugly enough to garner the nation’s highest honor.
Once the ceremony played out with Melania’s crowning of a revered white racist, who like those before him, namely movie icon John Wayne, the proud bigot who was against the end of slavery, and even has an airport named after him — it was abundantly clear that we were witnessing the racist epitome of a sobering occasion.
It’s no wonder that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed her utter disdain for the grotesque display of righteous condemnation for everything that’s supposed to keep the state of our union patriotically intact and safely distanced from harmful forces.
The racist GOP doesn’t give a damn about keeping up appearances and faking the exhaustive narrative that began with the illustrious poem imprinted on Lady Liberty.
After 8 harrowing years under the tutelage of a globally-admired American president, who was anointed as the first-ever Black occupant of The White House, white America fought back, and the result was a classless, bullish, and acutely dangerous white male, who will go down in history as the worst to ever do it.
Trump isn’t holding back when he acknowledges the All-American notable figures that represent what makes America great, and the recent actions to halt the entry of Black and Brown immigrants heightens the anthem of #MAGA.
It’s very likely that we will be cursed with another nightmarish presidential term that will be deadlier than the previous period of white terrorism.
