The New York Knicks are back, and so am I!
Moving back to New York City was the best decision. I stopped being a resident in 2015 after my rushed relocation to Los Angeles for a second time proved was less than fulfilling. It was weird returning to the city as a visitor, and also quite emotional, as I questioned whether the almost two decades of being a proud New Yorker had been a worthwhile endeavor or a pathetic waste of time.
Now that I’m a couple of years in, as a settled Brooklynite, exploring my second phase of life with caution and bursts of excitement for what can be possible as I begin to rewrite my story, I can honestly say that being back to what’s familiar and notably different was exactly what I needed to jumpstart my creative vices.
Coincidentally, the city of New York is also experiencing a rebirth of sorts, thanks to the infusion of raw talent for the New York Knicks under the capable leadership of worthy captain, Jalen Brunson, who arrived two years ago from the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent, hungry for the bright lights and high-octane energy that only Madison Square Garden can provide.
Brunson’s addition to a team previously led by Julius Randle, another dynamic player, who also came to New York with aspirations to restore respect and dignity to a challenged and embattled franchise was prolific from the start. It was clear the Knicks…
