Thanks for sharing and I do realize that hair is a sensitive topic, which is why I was prepared for the fact that this piece wouldn’t be received well. But I am adamant about my need to voice how frustrating it is to only see a certain type of representation that is almost always the default that we’re used to.
I’m aware that skin color doesn’t have much to do with hair texture, but it would be refreshing to have an actress who closely resembles your features — embodying a role that depicts the challenges that are relatable.
I’m just drawing attention to the fact that this was missed opportunity to choose an actress that is darker and with a certain hair type because I feel like it would’ve given the project more depth.
That’s just my opinion and certainly not one that I’m forcing on anyone and definitely don’t want to offend, but I guess there’s no way to present this without doing so.
