Thanks for confirming your status as a Black person. Yes, I do have a chip on my shoulder. And yes, I don’t give too much thought to how White people feel because they really don’t need me to.
I also could give less than a damn how White people feel about me. You can hate my guts and still treat me with the level of respect that is required from us — as members of the human race.
The burden of being a Black woman isn’t a badge of honor or a card that I play when I’m dying for attention.
It’s a reality I share with the ones who can relate. I guess you’re the exception — and for that — you’re lucky.
