Thank You Medium for Giving Me Space to be The Person I am While I Figure Out Who That Is
Thank you to my readers. Thank you to my critics. Thank you to those who still don’t know what to think of me. Thank you to the platform that continues to give me permission to be rowdy and composed — all in one sentence.
Thank you for the ability to hide under an open covering that has killed some relationships and revitalized the ones that I never anticipated would blossom under the glare of clicks and highlights.
Clicks and highlights are great when the words don’t collide with the manifesto of what it means to be aligned with a well-prepared selfie diary — even though I love scoping those because it gives me the life you have for a second or two.
The thing is, I am so many things. I like to be civilized, but I also enjoy taking chances that may end in catastrophe. I prefer to embrace the fundamentals, but excessively relinquishing control is amazingly exciting.
I have given more than I was ready to give and said things I never thought I could share without the aid of liquor and a one-way ticket to humpville.
And readers come here and give me the respect of their time and advice and even encouragement.
It’s beyond anything I could’ve imagined and for that I need to say thank you.
I don’t really know who I am yet. But, when I find out — you all will be the first to know.
