Sleeping with Both Eyes Open

Images of fear and longing drifting into view

This must be the unconscious ceremony to beyond

The cat is crying, and the volume of the Telly heightens the darkness

Coverings mesh into one as the body plunges into nothingness.

Outside, the sun and the moon collide to breed the faces of the past

One by one the haunted pay their respects with warnings to bear.

There will be a journey for one with no return

Take what you may and leave what you sought

Rise into the night and flicker like the stars,

Awake to the sleep that carries you on

When the morning comes the light will blind you

Forsake it and look to the winds

It will carry you there.
