Sha’Carri Richardson Doesn’t Owe Anybody a Damn Thing

We can all agree that none of us knew the name Sha’Carri Richardson until she did something great, and instantly became a household name. Her lightening speed performance as an up and coming track star at Louisiana State University gave her the meteoric rise that advanced her into qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo.

In late spring, she made headlines as the “sixth fastest women of all time, and the fourth fastest American woman in history” which is no small feat, even if we’ve been reprogrammed to be dismissive of the hard work and perseverance it takes to make that wondrous first impression.

Everything was coming up roses for Sha’Carri Richardson with her global recognition as a super star athlete on the rise, who was being compared to the late great Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner, as both women share a love for pairing vibrant aesthetic with their high capacity for speed.

The sky was certainly the limit and beyond for the one of the bright lights gracing the gloominess of the first-ever audience-free Olympics, staged in a host city under siege from a raging global pandemic. That was of course until everything came crashing down for Richardson, who infamously tested positive for THC an active agent found in cannabis and was promptly banned from participating in the Summer
