Prince Died. Today.
I found out at Starbucks. While nursing a quivering lip from drinking very cold coffee
It was Twitter. Then TMZ. Then Facebook. Then Instagram. Then Google.
It was tributes from people who are famous enough to give them
It was timelines filled with videos and more videos and even more videos
It was text messages back and forth
It was a job search ended
Visions of today squashed
It was a childhood revisited
It was images unable to recall that first time
It was memories shattered by a glazed tunnel filled with recycled matter
It was sitting in silence as the boy jumps around to the beat in my head
It was the ire of imagination that willed the very first time
It was the spell of eager fingers and the fourteen year old yelling
into existence
that first time
Not Purple Rain she says
Remember.
