I went through the same thing. I still am. But the more I hit “Publish” — the easier it is to release myself from that fear. It is disconcerting to leave yourself vulnerable in that way. I’ve had friends read my stuff and feel betrayed by the notion that they never really knew me. I’ve had family members express their horror at some of the stuff I’ve divulged about my life. But in the end — I’m a writer and I love the fact that I can use my craft to save my life. That includes exposing the beautiful, ugly and uncomfortable. That’s how life goes.
