I don’t view my ability to convey my emotions on a visceral level as — complaining. I also don’t believe that I’m wasting my time expressing how I feel about activated issues.
Most of my work basically recognizes the fact that I don’t believe racism will ever be erased. However, I do hold on to the hope that good will trump evil — “pun intended.”
I can also attest to the fact that enough non-Black readers give me the reassurance I need to continue my method of delivery.
Lastly, when I write — it’s really a selfish endeavor — because there is so much relief that floods my soul — once I’ve released whatever I have to say.
We all have our ways of dealing with our frustrations. I choose writing because it’s the only instinct that revives.
And I will never stop.
