A New Year

Coming out into the wide grin of acceptance.
Dimming lights represent embers of regret.
Looking ahead into the tunnel lined with the sheen
of remembrance and hope.
Lungs filled with air from heaven give brimstone
a shield of glitter.
Pressing forward towards the chambers of discontent.
Broken hearts are repaired with bloodied veins,
caressing forgiveness and fortitude.
