GUILTY

George Floyd’s murderer, Derek Chauvin, a white supremacist, who weaponized his white power against an unarmed, non-threatening Black man who begged for his life before cruelly losing it to systemic violence, was found guilty of all three charges, including second-degree manslaughter.

The murderous former Minneapolis cop could get from 12 to 40 years in prison for each charge. The same judge who recently weaponized his white power to vilify the perfectly logical statement made by Congresswoman Maxine Waters, regarding Chauvin’s possible acquittal, will be the one tasked with deciding the fate of a notorious white supremacist and convicted murderer.

As…

Judge Peter Cahill denied the motion for a mistrial during closing arguments in the Derek Chauvin trial, before the deliberation phase was activated. But Judge Cahill didn’t miss the opportunity to grant Chauvin’s defense attorney a righteous gift by acknowledging the source for the last-ditch effort to game the system on behalf of a murderous former cop.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters has never been shy about vocalizing her assessment when it comes to national emergencies that are a matter of life and death, and her recent statements regarding the high-stakes of a murder trial that had to deliver the only verdict…

As a weary nation that’s still in the depths of despair from the ongoing ravages of COVID, simultaneously battles the domestic terrorism of back-to-back mass shootings and hate crimes in the form of police brutality, we’re also reminded of the trauma stemming from systemic injustice, that remains unchecked.

As a Black woman in America, my trigger centers are alighted whenever the memory of Sandra Bland resurfaces. …

I recently had a rather enlightening conversation with my 9-year-old niece that refreshingly permitted each of us to be intimately honest about our versions of life’s expectations from the perspective of youthful ideals and mature resolution.

Like most little girls with an active imagination that creates vibrant visuals of what makes daydreaming a gratifying sport, my talkative niece has reached the precious phase in her life, that allows her to contemplate an exciting future ahead, based on the takeaways from shifting and steady environments.

When we last hung out, she proudly recognized her growth spurt, and I pointed out how…

She’s baack!

Long-running daytime offering, The Talk has resumed operations, after being on hiatus for about a month, following the controversial episode involving former cohost Sharon Osbourne’s explosive tantrum, while confronting fellow talker Sheryl Underwood, during a tension-filled segment.

Osbourne defensively lashed out when the conversation forced her to speak up for her embattled friend Piers Morgan, who abruptly left his job at Good Morning Britain over accusations of racist attacks against Meghan Markle.

The viral clip of a privileged white woman’s desperate attempt at centering her victimhood above the Black woman she claimed as a friend wasn’t received well, particularly when…

Another Black man shot dead due to an accidental discharge of a gun belonging to a Minnesota veteran police officer. 20-year-old Daunte Wright is now a tragic casualty of the thriving terrorism of police brutality.

Coincidentally, the location of the crime is currently a source of fixation for anyone following the trial of the year. Another Black man, 46-year-old George Floyd was also a victim of police brutality at the hands of a white thug with a badge, who placed deadly force on Floyd’s neck with both his grimy hands wedged in his pockets.

Wright was pulled over for a…

True artists are never gone

I’m not attempting to compete with the incoming avalanche of essays that will serve as fitting tributes to one of the best to ever do it, while sincerely wearing his heart on his sleeve.

Emotions are running high and hearts are heavy over the profound loss of iconic rapper and culture shifter Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, who tragically left this world at the age of 50, after going into cardiac arrest that left him on life support.

When the news about his hospitalization and coma went viral, I was immediately transported to that time when my brother and…

So do it now!

At the risk of sounding preachy and reflecting the advancing age of a Gen-Xer, I suddenly feel the need to share words of wisdom that I desperately wish I had been privy to during my rumbling days of youth.

Nobody really shares the secret of how getting older isn’t quite the blessing if you’ve spent the best years of your life soaked in alcohol and the grease of foods that are catastrophically high in saturated fat.

We’re told to enjoy the freedom of being young enough to get away with high- stakes pursuits in every area of our existence because…

For whatever reason I’ve been hesitant to formally express my thoughts on the flaming controversy surrounding the graphically fantastical music video to the hit single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” by Lil Nas X. The splashy event is a fitting tribute to targets who are unfairly threatened by the promise of permanent bondage in the devil’s lair for the crime of daring to live honestly with no apologies.

“Montero” has so far garnered more than 96 million views on YouTube, and even more impressive is how the “Old Country Road” singer continues to utilize the various channels at his…

Or do they even care?

I’ve been dipping in and out of the “Trial of the Year,” starring a white supremacist who has the unearned privilege of being able to defend his indefensible actions. Derek Chauvin is a white male who was trained to become a cold-blooded killer when dealing with Black lives that don’t matter, and that informed his callousness on the day George Floyd senselessly lost his life.

Against my better judgment, I succumbed to the temptation and watched the graphicness of a dying Black man breathlessly pleading to BREATHE, as his white murderer dug his knee deeper into the veins of his…
